I'm like a ghost, a shadow, following your words.
A person and you are talking about our place.
Coming out of you, I transform into me, and then us.
We write a poem, marking you and me.
There we are, wordless, but it's a pleasant feeling.
In my video work, Red Lip 2006, an image of a red lip with a repeated sentence, “There is nothing special here but fresh vegetables” spoken in a tender but unspecific tone like a guide. It's from first-person perspective. Therefore, I re-depicted this profile in this new work, Our Lips 2010. In the black & white channel, each description of the place said by participants is like a separate line flattened on paper. These conversations refer to the same subject because of my question, but they also show a personal history of each resident. The red lip in another channel represents a person who recommends a place. She translated the lines flattened on paper by ruminating those sentences, and spoke out like reciting poetry.
